FOREIGN LANGUAGE PLACEMENT

If you are thinking about taking a foreign language at RIT, but you previously took one in another school (high school, university, etc.), you must take a placement test BEFORE YOU PRE-REGISTER. For those students that are interested in declaring a concentration or a minor in a foreign language, being placed beyond the level of Beginning I foreign language will help you obtain the exemption of the prerequisite.

Currently, placement tests are scheduled for the fall pre- registration. Please contact the following professors immediately:

Arabic, Russian, Portuguese and Spanish: Prof. Diane Forbes - djfgsl@rit.edu
Chinese and Japanese: Prof. Hiroko Yamashita - hxygsl@rit.edu
French: Prof. Philippe Chavasse - pxcgsl@rit.edu
German: Prof. Ulrike Stroszeck-Goemans - uisgsl@rit.edu
Italian: Prof. Elisabetta D'Amanda - da5@netacc.net
