Imagine
a country where people work thirty-five-hour weeks and
take seven weeks of paid holidays per year. There are
three seasons in France: planning the summer vacation,
the summer vacation in August and talking about it afterwards.
Now, imagine a wide range of climate, geography, language,
traditions and cuisine in a country the size of Texas.
There is lots to tell about the "French Paradox",
of course. France is country with double-digit unemployment,
state regulated economy and a confusingly large number
of political parties. Yet France has the world's
highest productivity per hours worked, is the number
three exporter and is the world's fourth largest
economic power. Et voilà: Vive la différence! |
